Nick Caserio’s place in Houston should be on the hot seat. He’s had two years now to establish some semblance of a halfway competitive football team, and somehow has managed to field one that is currently worse than one lead by David Culley.
While I understand that this team is rebuilding, there is zero indication they have gotten any better.
I will admit Nick has helped improve the run game, and the secondary, two areas this team desperately needed to improve upon. The other areas have taken a steep nose dive into perpetual disappointment. The QB play, WR play, defensive front 7 all are incredibly underwhelming and a huge reason this team has 1 win. If the team decided that Lovie should be let go after this season, which I would not be upset over, Nick needs to be the next one out of a job.
While Cal McNair was the one who hired both Culley and Lovie as HC’s, Nick drug his feet with the hiring of Gannon and that lead to a major black eye on his reputation as a GM.
Nick also is seen as a “pushover” or “soft” when it comes to agents who have players who are disgruntled. KGH got what he wanted with zero resistance. Justin Britt is sitting on the NFI list being paid his full contract. Brandin Cooks is being shopped because he’s upset over Jack being fired.
Nick often is way to willing to cave to players instead of doing what is in the best interest of the franchise. While he and his team do an excellent job of evaluating talent, they have not managed to fill out the depth of this roster beyond the few rookie bright spots and 1 or 2 free agents who have contributed in a positive manner. It’s time for him to stop catering to the players at every request for a trade or release.
